Google Public DNS is a free, global Domain Name System (DNS) resolution service, that you can use as an alternative to your current DNS provider.
at the beginning of 2010 issued a Public DNS so that Google can be used for general, this serves as a privacy and its speed in terms of browsing.
Average Internet users doing hundreds of DNS lookups every day, slowing down the browsing experience. As the web continues to evolve, a greater burden is placed on the existing DNS infrastructure.
Because the search engine Google has to surf the web every day and in the process of completing and cache DNS information, Google's use of technology to experiment with new ways of addressing some of the challenges that exist around the DNS performance and security. Google offers a service to the public with the hope of achieving the objectives:
- Provide Internet users with an alternative to their current DNS service. Google Public DNS takes a new approach that Google believes offer more valid results, increased security, and, in many cases, better performance.
- Help reduce the burden on the ISPs' DNS servers. By taking advantage of Google's global data center and caching infrastructure, Google can directly serve a large number of user requests without having to query other DNS resolvers.
- Helping make the web run faster and more secure. We launched this experiment to test some new ways to approach the DNS-related challenges. We look forward to sharing what we learn with the developers of DNS resolvers and the wider web community and get their feedback.
